Description

Terbinafine 250mg is an antifungal medicine used to treat superficial fungal infections related to fingernail and toenail. The medicine is used to treat ringworm infection such as jock itch or athlete foot. The medicine is effective on dermatophyte fungi related to candida. The medicine is an inhibitor of CYP450 2D6 isozyme. It helps in treating the over-grown fungus. The medicine is also useful in treating all sub-types of fungal infection. The medicine works effectively depending on the nature and severity of the infection. The medicine is helpful in treating infection within 6-12 weeks. It is the most effective and safe medicine and appears to result in dead fungus cell.

The infection is caused by the microbe fungus present underneath the nail-bed. It causes the nail to thicken, discolour or split. The nails can be treated using creams, ointment or oral medicines. Creams and ointments are not effective. The fungal infection is also known as onychomycosis. The infection might cause pain, irritation or pressure in the nail. Adults are more likely to get prone to the infection due to the weak immune system, diabetes or increasing age. The infection is caused by organisms called dermatophyte. Advanced age, poor health, warm climate are some of the reasons that cause nail infection.

Usage

Terbinafine 250mg is to be taken orally by mouth. You can take the medicine with or without food. Do not take the medicine with kidney or liver infection. Avoid taking medicine for other body-related infections. Avoid medicine with the use of fluconazole and aspirin medicine.

Dosage

A single dose is recommended for a particular day. Do not overdose the medicine without a doctor’s consult. Do not stop the medicine before the prescribed time. For better results do not skip the dose. Avoid the use of caffeine with medicine.

Precautions

Avoid Terbinafine 250mg medicine with applesauce, acidic fruit or fruit juice. Keep the medicine out of reach of children and pets. Do not take an inadequate amount of medicine. Do not take the medicine for other infections.
